Week 13 update: Well, I got a good mental confidence boost by finishing a solid and consistent paced 16+ mile run this past Saturday morning. I walked and ran my last 3 miles for a total of a 19 mile run, but I did finish a long run which will be a good confidence booster for finishing the Chicago Marathon. I am definitely looking forward to it:)
9/17: Ran 4.5 miles around SW OKC.
9/18: Ran 6.5 miles around neighborhood
9/19: Ran 4.5 miles (10 min/mile marathon pace)
9/20: Ran 2.5 miles around neighborhood
9/21: Ran 7.0 miles around Lake Hefner
9/22: Rest Day
9/23: Ran 14.5 miles (finished a 16.5 mile route around Lake Hefner, but walked after 1/2 marathon) In other news I also almost got attacked by a dog on a leash with owner...that was fun after 16 miles of grueling running...;)
Target Week 14 mileage: 37-42 miles
Actual Week 14 mileage: 39.5 miles
It was a good last week of long run training although I am concerned about mileage after around 16-17 miles although that is nothing new to me. Both previous marathons I participated in I had to start walking/running after mile 17-18. Overall, my goal is to finish the marathon Oct. 7th, but with all the mileage put in it would be nice to finish under 4hr 30 min or be better than a 4hr 48 min time posted in my previous marathon this past April in the OKC Memorial Marathon. Chicago is 2 weeks away!:)
