Week 12: Chicago Marathon Training 2007

Well here I am just outside of 1 month from the Chicago 2007 marathon on Oct. 7th and I can honestly say I am not near where I would like to be shape wise. Its been a long 4 months of inconsistent training in my eyes, but all the same...the overall goal is to stick with the training and finish the marathon come Oct. 7th.

As I have stated in a couple previous posts...my goal over the next 3 weeks is to get 3 good long runs in of 15-20 milers each Saturday morning leading up to a (1 week very short timeframe taper..I know should be 2 weeks...but I'll risk it) before marathon day Oct. 7th. I think if I can gain some endurance and actual non-walking mileage between 15-18 miles I'll know that I'll be able to finish the marathon. So...I'll keep ya posted on the long run progress....

Week 12 Chicago Marathon Training Schedule:

9/3: Rest Day
9/4: Ran 8.5 miles around neighborhood in SW OKC....
9/5: Ran 6.0 miles around neighborood in SW OKC...
9/6: Ran 6.0 miles in 1 hr around neighborhood in SW OKC...
9/7: 2.5 miles around neighborhood
9/8: 9.5 miles around Lake Hefner (was going to do 15-16, but was rained out;)
9/9: 9.5 miles around Lake Hefner

Target Week 12 Mileage: 40-45 miles

Actual Week 12 Mileage: 42 miles

*Long Runs were hampered due to weather, but I did get my mileage in...
**This next weekend is critical for me to have the mental confidence of finishing;)

you can "finish" anything. it's all just a matter of how you feel when you do! see you on 10/7!
